IPSTYLE at the INTA Annual Meeting 2019

Mariya Ortynska, IPStyle Managing Partner attended this year’s INTA Annual Meeting again.

Every year, in late May, the International Trademark Association (INTA) holds a meeting for trademark experts where attendees have the chance to discuss the latest trends and issues of the industry and also to meet TM specialists from all over the world.

This year’s one of the most interesting topics was digitalization. There are a lot of various aspects of trademark protection in the digital era. 4D printing is already more reality than fantasy. Moreover, discussions extended to designs, copyright, and geographical indications as well. For Ukraine, geographical indications are very topical because, according to the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, we have to get rid of such names as “cognac” and “champagne”.

After coming back, Mariya Ortynska also shared with us interesting tendencies in IP business development. There were firms that focused on preparing and filing the trademark documents only, so-called “filers”. Nowadays, they can not fully satisfy clients’ needs and are losing popularity. However, IP software companies are growing rapidly. Of course, no software can act as an analyst, patent and trademark attorney, and a lawyer at the same time, but technologies develop very fast.

Finally, we decided that IPStyle Patent Law Company chose the right path to grow. Our clients need full-scope services: from basic consultations and trademark registration to complex analytics for different jurisdictions and matters. Knowing this, we are ready to go further and reach the highest level in the IP market.
